Alicia Clements

Designer Biography

Alicia Clements is costume and set designer currently working between London, Sydney and Perth. Graduating from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2008, Alicia has furthered her training in Paris and London through the support of The Australia Council for the Arts and the 2014 Kristian Fredrikson Scholarship for Design in the Performing Arts.

In 2009 Alicia was a member of Black Swan State Theatre Company’s Hotbed Ensemble for emerging artists and went on to become Resident Designer with the company in 2012. Designs for BSSTC include Arcadia; The White Divers of Broome; A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Madagascar. Alicia also works closely with Barking Gecko Theatre Company designing productions including Duck, Death and the Tulip; This Girl Laughs, This Girl Cries, This Girls Does Nothing; Driving into Walls and its recent sequel ONEFIVEZEROSEVEN; as well as assisting Gypsy Taylor on her Helpmann Award-nominated design for The Red Tree.

Other contributions include set and costume designs for Lost and Found Opera, Deckchair Theatre Company, STEPS Youth Dance Company and Onward Productions, and she is currently designing for Sydney Theatre Company. In London Alicia has supervised costumes at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and assisted designer Isla Shaw on productions across the West End.

Additionally, she forms one half of The Skeletal System: multi-award-winning WA independent theatre company dedicated to new Australian work.
