Roos Van Geffen

Designer Biography

Roos van Geffen studied Theatre Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tilburg and at the Academy for Fine Arts in Maastricht. Since 2000 she works as a a freelance set- and costume designer for theatres in Norway and the Netherlands, and has a long association with the theatre companies Tryater - the Fries language theatre company - and the North Netherlands Theatre company (NNT). Roos van Geffen has designed sets and costumes for more than 40 theatre productions, mostly classic plays such as Othello, Romeo and Julia, Macbeth, Richard III, Ivanov, Uncle Wanja etc. In 2011 Roos was selected to represent the Netherlands at the Prague Quadrennial - the world exhibition for scenography, together with the designers Theun Mosk, Lena Mueller and Marloeke van der Vlugt.

From 1997 Roos van Geffen has been making autonomous installations and performances for various European festivals and organisations including The Summer of Antwerp in Belgium, Theaterfestival Boulevard in Den Bosch, Netherlands, Oerol Festival, Festival VEO in Valencia, Spain, Battersea Arts Centre in London and others.
