Designer Biography

Born in Voronezh. Graduated from Leningrad Construction and Engineering Institute, Architecture Department, worked as an Architect in Vyborg. In 1985, held the position of the Art Director of Leningrad Regional Puppet Theater, then of the Art Director of I.S. Turgenev Orlov Drama Theater. From 1990, worked as the Artist of Individual art direction studio of B. Yukhanov. In 1987, was awarded golden medal (together with A. Lisyansky and S. Kutsevalov) for the project of the Soviet exposition for the Prague Quadrennial 1987.

Designed set and costumes for more than 150 performances, was actively engaged in film projects. The critics highly appreciated his work in such films as Moscow, Target (directed by A. Zeldovich), Euphoria (directed by I. Pyrypayev).

In 1996, got "Golden Mask" award of the Russian National Theater for the best performance The Tempest by W. Shakespeare of Kazan youth Theater (directed by B. Tseytlin, 1994). In 1996, was the winner of K.S. Stanislavsky award for the best scenography in Yukhananov's project "Orchard" based on the play of A.P. Chekhov "The Cherry Orchard" and opera "The Queen of Spades" by P.I. Tchaikovsky (Perm Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, Director: G. Isaakyan). "Golden Mask" award winner for the performances Bumbarash (Samara YT, 1998), Mother Courage (Samara theater "SAMART," 2003).

Prize winner of Film Critics Guild "White Elephant" in 2011 for his work in the movie Target (directed by A. Zeldovich).
