Andrei Poteryaylo-Mancino

Designer Biography

I was born in Kiev in 1973.

In 1985 I started studying at The Republican Art School in Kiev, and the local private studio of analytical drawing, led by Nikolai Shkaraputa.

in 1992, one year after I moved to America, I started taking classes at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.

I also studied in Amsterdam and Scuola di Grafica Internazionale in Venice.

In 1994 I have received the award at the annual student scholarship competition at the Society of Illustrators (New York)

In 2004 I did most of the B-G paintings for short-animated movie "Rex Steele-the Nazi Smacher" that received many awards including Student Academy Award in LA.

From 1998 till 2006 I was working in various animation studios. From Disney to Scholastic ( the oldest publishing company in New York,,,if I am not wrong)

I also worked for The New York Times and Wall Street Journal.

From 2006 I started painting and saling my art-works at my own risk "на свой страх и риск" so to say, doing whatever fascinated and inspired me, collaborating with galleries in the US, Kiev, and Moscow.

I was working for Disney and Scholastic as well, as for some other animation studios, but from 2006 I started painting Venetian themes, and called myself Mancino ( my old nick-name I have obtained in Venice in 1996 from my local friends) Since 2006 I`ve been exhibiting my paintings in the galleries of The US, Kiev and Moscow. I`ve been painting mostly Venice for this city is the magic theater bu itself.

In 1991 I have finished The Republican Art School in Kiev, and the local private studio of analytical drawing, in 1992 I started taking classes at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. I also studied in Amsterdam and Scuola di Grafica Internazionale in Venice. In 1994 I have received the award at the annual student scholarship competition at the Society of Illustrators (New York) ten years latter I did most of the B-G paintings for short-animated movie Rex Steele-the Nazi Smacher that received many awards including Student Academy Award in LA. Actually that was my aid for my friends from Disney tv. Carus publishing and The New York Times,

Mancino (Lefthanded) is my nickname, my Italian friends gave me in Venice.

My original last name, however, is Poteryaylo.(Потурайло) I know it sounds kind of confusing in English, but at any rate...

I think, I may go under my original firs and last name, or simply "Mancino"///but Mancino does not sound neither Ukrainian, nor American, Right))?

"Venetian Mystery" sounds great, but what if we would call it "La Festa Miracolosa". What do you think?
